This is a cheerful, colourful and tactile board book for the very young. In fewer than 20 words, Marshall shows us who is doing what in the garden, with a cast of bird, cat, duck and snail.
As well as having lovely tactile elements for little fingers to explore on each page the artwork is beautifully textured and the bold colours attract attention. It is indeed a very happy little book. I did, however, find the selection of garden characters an interesting choice, given that in my garden the same cast would be a less than happy mix!
