In previous Cheeky Monkey books by Lisa Kerr, the jungle animals have been on adventures. This new series explores manners. In Sorry, Georgina Giraffe is having a birthday party and Cheeky Monkey causes havoc with his bad manners. Mr Owl points out Cheeky Monkey’s rudeness and amends are made. In Excuse Me Mr Owl, and then the jungle friends, take turns to remind Cheeky Monkey to excuse himself when he is rude at the park.
These sturdy board books are colourful and well designed with rounded corners and small format to suit very small children. The themes allow for discussion about acceptable behaviour in social situations that will be identifiable for toddlers. The illustrations are cheerful and have details for young children to explore. Two others in the series are Please and Thank You.
