Meredith Costain is the well-known author of The Cuddliest Hug, Doodledum Dancing, the Ella Diaries series, amongst others. Her collaboration with illustrator Polona Lovsin blended brilliantly in Daddies are Great!, and now together they present the adorable Mummies are Lovely.

An absolutely heartwarming story of the special relationship between children and their mothers, this one is just magical for young preschoolers. Uncomplicated and pleasant on the eye, readers will easily follow the clear, large font topping the white pages and beautifully realistic, playful cats centred on each spread. Joyful and sweet rhyming couplets create all kinds of warm fuzzies with feline furballs kissing away troubles and finding “gold in the sunlight and rainbows in bubbles.” There are plenty of cheerful, playful, fearless and thoughtful moments, too, but the tender, cuddly times allow for baby to express to mummy just how special she is.

Mummies are Lovely engages the heart with its ripples of emotive goodness and lovable characters. Energetic, alluring illustrations and embracing words draw us close and support the unequivocal bond that mothers and children share. Why not celebrate Mother’s Day everyday?! Purr-fect for ages three and up.
