This self-published picture book is based on a true story about the author’s father rescuing a baby dolphin that had become entangled in discarded rope. The dolphin’s family rejoice when he is finally released and they all swim off happily. A straightforward story told in simple language with the text presented in a very large typeface to encourage newly independent readers. The text would benefit from some editing, for example, there is an illustration of the fisherman standing on the boat’s deck holding a hook but no reference as to how he finally catches the dolphin – a key part of the story. The vivid watercolour illustrations capture the drama and excitement of the day. Suitable for ages 3-6.
