Dinoshapes, Priddy Books/Pan Macmillan Australia, 26 July 2016, 16 pages (board book), $14.95 ISBN: 9780312520564
Kids seem to be universally fascinated by dinosaurs from a young age, so Dinoshapes is bound to be a hit with toddlers. Each colourful spread features a different dinosaur, and a different shape to find in the illustrations.
The book uses raised fingerprints – touch and feel style – to create the dinosaurs and features a dino-bite out of the corner of each page. There is no story but the rhyming text should be enough to please while littlies study the pictures.
The dino-names are repeated with a phonetic spelling so adult readers can be confident of correct pronunciation – handy when dealing with pedantic paleontologists!
