A good book for children welcoming a new baby in their family. There is no real story per se, simply a series of delightful illustrations with minimum text celebrating various babies’ little feet, hands, eyes, ears and mouths, followed by further vignettes showing how they will use them as they grow up.
One of the babies is pictured wearing a breathing aid with his smiling mother nursing him beside a hospital bed and again at home, a valuable reminder that some babies may need medical attention after they are born.
There is a great range of babies and children in terms of ethnicity and size, a diversity reflected in the lovely endpapers of babies playing among a garden of flowers. These Little Feet was notabled in the Early Childhood category of the 2024 CBCA book of the Year Awards.
