Sinead Saint, George Goes to The Farm, Wild Dog Books, July 2025 RRP $24.99 (hbk), ISBN 9781742037011
There is so much to love in George Goes to the Farm with the humorous quips about city life. George spends Monday rushing around, /with a coffee and croissant to go. George has a very sophisticated life filled with visits to the salon, catching up on news in ‘Barking Times’, fashion and singing lessons. George needs a break and he’s off to a weekend on the farm. Disaster. Max the working dog is sick and George needs ‘to lend a paw.’ There is much humour in the country sojorn as George takes over Max’s tasks from gathering eggs to leaping after the farmer’s hat. George loves helping his mate, but he is tired and happy to get home. He dreams of the farm and new adventures ahead.
Reading out loud George Goes to the Farm with its rhymes and rhythms will entertain young children. The cover doesn’t quite tempt children to find the content within. An adult needs to invite them inside the pages. My favourite image is when George is nice and clean and is a big ball of fluff.
